{Altenew} Build-a-Flower: Sakura Blossom Release + Giveaway

Hi, everyone! Today, Altenew is releasing a new Build-a-Flower set and it's the stunning Sakura Blossom. I absolutely adore this layered set, which is so easy to stamp. This is the easiest layering set I've ever used, which means you need it! The dies are also very unique, with score lines for all the petals and leaves to make them three-dimensional. Yes, heart eyes to all of that!

I need to add a lot of birthday cards to my stash so I decided to make two at once, in bright, sunny colours, instead of the usual pink for Sakura Blossoms.

I used the lightest three shades from Summer Afternoon to layer the yellow flowers and the lightest three shades from Warm and Cozy to layer the orange flowers. I used paler green leaves on the yellow card and brighter green leaves on the orange card. For the stamen, I used warm greys on the yellow flowers and cool greys on the orange flowers. The sentiments are stamped in two colours to match the flowers and leaves on their respective cards. Finally, I added vellum die cuts for balance.

{Altenew} 40th Birthday Card

I made this card for one of my dearest friends and neighbours who turned 40 today! A big group of us went out for appetizers, drinks and dancing last night and had a blast. I hadn't gone dancing in about 20 years and my middle-aged knees are really hurting today. LOL It was worth it though...I think. ;)

I stamped the Frosted Garden flowers in Lagoon ink and die cut them. Then I set them aside to adhere once the sentiment was completed. I used my paper trimmer to cut black glitter tape down the centre and created a border on the linen card base.

I die cut "bday girl" using the Inline Alpha Dies and gold embossed the bottoms. The second part of the sentiment from Be Strong was stamped in black ink. Then I used glue dots to adhere the die cut letters, as well as the Frosted Garden flowers. I used scissors to trim off the excess parts of the flowers.

Thanks so much for stopping by!

{Spellbinders} January 2018 Small Die of the Month

Happy New Year! I got to play with Spellbinders' January 2018 Small Die of the Month and it was so much fun. I had so many ideas, I didn't know where to start so I made three cards to give you an idea of the versatility of this little kit.

The first die I grabbed was the big leafy heart. It's perfect for a focal point and I was able to show it off here in two forms, just with the outline and also with the inside where I stamped the sentiment.

All sentiments on these cards are from a Hero Arts sentiment set called Dare to Dream. I love the encouraging words and the way they can be used individually or in combination to create new, longer sentiments like on this next card.

I used the round flower - one of three in this kit - and removed the stem from it by die cutting it twice, turning it so that the stem was cut off the second time for a blossom without a stem.

Then I used the sprig die and threaded the centre of the blossoms through the sprigs, adhering them to the card in a cluster and adding a bow.

For my third card, I used the heart arrow die, adhering several of them on a dark panel for some variation in the colour palette and embellished the hearts with enamel dots to match.

All black sentiments were heat embossed with sparkle embossing powder. I used the same six colours of cardstock to show how the same supplies can look different, in both masculine and feminine styles by adding different embellishments.

The January 2018 Small Die of the Month is available exclusively at Spellbinders. You can subscribe to the club to receive the die this month or you can wait until next month to purchase it individually without subscribing to the club.

Updated 08Jan18: The January 2018 Small Die of the Month is now sold out but you can still purchase this kit in combination with other kits in several Spellbinders Value Clubs.
